The Office of Research of American International University-Bangladesh organized a meeting with the Research Group Moderators of the University’s five faculties on 14 September 2026 at the Auditorium, D Building, AIUB. The meeting focused on strengthening research engagement, visibility, integrity, collaboration, and coordination across the University.

The meeting brought together AIUB’s senior leadership, Deans, faculty representatives, and around 95 Research Group Moderators to discuss key priorities and strategies for further advancing research activities at AIUB.

The program commenced with Associate Professor, Dr. Mohammad Hasan Imam, RPSC member, Office of Research, presenting an overview of research citations and discussing research policies, compliance, research ethics, and the prevention of research misconduct. This was followed by remarks from Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, who shared their insights on strengthening research activities and fostering a more coordinated and impactful research culture across the University.

Subsequently, Senior Associate Professor, Mr. Mashiour Raman, Ranking and Global Engagement Office, highlighted opportunities and strategies for enhancing international research engagement and collaboration.

Addressing research visibility and impact, Prof. Dr. Firoz Mridha, Head, Department of Computer Science, shared strategies for increasing research citations, including citations per faculty and citations per paper. Prof. Dr. Tabin Hasan, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), discussed research integrity, ethics, and the prevention of research misconduct, emphasizing the importance of maintaining responsible and ethical research practices.

The meeting also featured insights and guidelines from the Deans of AIUB’s faculties. Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering (FE); Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA); Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS); and Prof. Dr. Dip Nandi, Dean, FST, shared their perspectives and recommendations on strengthening research activities within their respective faculties. Their discussions highlighted the importance of coordinated faculty-level initiatives and greater engagement of Departments and Research Groups in promoting impactful research.

Prof. Dr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, addressed student research activities and shared current status of student research, emphasizing the importance of creating greater opportunities for students to participate in research and scholarly activities and fostering a stronger research culture among students.

The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Md. Asif Kamal, Member, Research & Publication Steering Committee (RPSC), Office of Research.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan, Associate Professor, RPSC Member, Office of Research, representing FST and Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Hoque, Associate Professor, representing FBA.

The discussions covered a broad range of research priorities, including updated research policies and guidelines, research compliance, regular updating of faculty research profiles, enhancing research output visibility through digital platforms, increasing citations per faculty and per paper, strengthening international research collaboration, research integrity and ethics, prevention of research misconduct, student research activities, and the roles of Departments and Research Group Moderators in promoting impactful research.

The meeting provided an important platform for Research Group Moderators and university leadership to exchange views, share experiences, and identify coordinated strategies for enhancing research performance, visibility, integrity, and collaboration. The discussions reaffirmed AIUB’s commitment to developing a stronger, more collaborative, ethical, and impact-oriented research ecosystem across the University.
