On September 3, 2026, and September 16, 2026, the Department of EEE under Faculty of Engineering (FE), American International University-Bangladesh organized a two day long [one day per week] industrial visit to the Rampura 230/132 KV Grid Substation.  The visit aimed to promote practical understanding and knowledge exchange in the field of electrical power transmission, distribution systems, grid operation, industrial automation and modern substation technologies through direct industrial exposure. The industrial visit was arranged for a total of 150 students from four different sections of the Final year course Titled “Power Stations and Substations” of the Department of EEE, AIUB, to provide practical learning opportunities aligned with modern industrial practices in the power and energy sector.

The industrial visit to the Rampura 230/132 KV Grid Substation was conducted with official permission from the Power Division, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The program was coordinated by Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Associate Professor, FE; Member [Research & Publication Steering Committee], AIUB and Dr. Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Associate Professor, FE, AIUB. Dr. Gour Chand Mazumder, Assistant Professor, FE, AIUB, was coordinating the first day of the visit along with Dr. Md. Hasan Imam. whose efforts and supervision contributed significantly to the successful execution of the visit.

The program began with an introductory session conducted by Md. Imran Hossain Jony, PMP, Sub-Divisional Engineer and In-Charge of Rampura 230/132 KV Grid Substation. During the session, the participants were introduced to the operational framework, functional significance, Security Concerns and overall activities of the Grid Substation. Following the introductory session, Mr. Jony led a comprehensive technical briefing and guided tour throughout the facility. The participants were introduced to the supply and Load side of the substation, the functionality of the incoming transmission system and the operational significance of maintaining reliable grid connectivity.

The industrial visit concluded on the last day with a brief closing and thanksgiving session where closing remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Associate Dean, FE, AIUB and Dr. Md. Hasan Imam who expressed sincere appreciation to the officials and engineers for their valuable guidance and cooperation throughout the program. Mr. Protik Parvez Sheikh, Assistant Professor, FE and Md. Abid Morshed, Sessional Faculty, FE joined the last day visit to coordinate students in the Substation. Later the Faculties also met Mr. Abdur Rashid Khan, the Honorable MD of Power Grid Bangladesh, PLC and discussed for possible Collaboration and signing MoU with FE, AIUB.

As a token of gratitude and appreciation, souvenirs from AIUB were presented to the substation authorities for their hospitality and assistance in organizing the successful industrial visit. The industrial visit also aligned closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal [SDG 4: “Quality Education” and SDG 7: “Affordable and Clean Energy”] by promoting experiential learning and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
